February 2009 DC bar exam

Congrats to everyone that completed the February bar exam yesterday, especially all the retakers out there. The torpedo is in the water...nothing to do now but get back to the regular grind and wait for the explosions (of joy) when you get your results.

I heard from someone via the comments that the following subjects were tested on the MEE for the February 2009 DC bar exam:

Evidence (character evidence/impeach witnesses)
Property (joint tenancy v. tenancy in common)
Civ Pro (service of process by e-mail to person in foreign country/choice of law)
Corporations (fiduciary responsibility of corporate boards)
Commercial Paper (check/forged indorsement/theft of check)
Torts (negligence/landlord tenant/personal injury)

I also heard that the two MPTs were
Memo to Partner (Objective)
Memo to Court (Persuasive)

All I can say is, man, I am soooo glad all that bar exam jazz is behind me!

Enjoy a couple of days of doing nothing!

Any predictions on the July MEE subjects for DC?

Midwesterner (Previously) in D.C. said...

I feel fairly fair out of the loop on this, but I did a quick review of the essay subjects tested in DC from July 07 to present (when the MBE topics were added to the MEE):
July 07:
Contracts
Criminal Law
Property
Family Law
Agency/Partnerships
Trusts
Feb 08:
Evidence
Torts
Wills
Secured Transactions
Corporations
Trusts
July 08:
Con Law (torts flavored)
Property
Civ Pro
Contracts
Agency
Trusts
Feb 09:
Evidence
Property
Torts
Civ Pro
Corporations
Commercial Paper

Based on that, my best guess for July 09 includes three (or four) MBE topics. I'd say Contracts, Evidence, and Crim Pro. And three questions from the rest of the old MEE subjects. I'd say Trusts, Family Law and Secured Transactions.
But, hey, these are whatever I feel like with the wind blowing the direction it is today!
Good luck!

I think your predictions make sense, although there can't be more than three MBE subjects tested by rule. From the NCBE site:

"Three of the questions on each test form will be taken from the traditional MBE subject areas included in this outline and six will be drawn from the traditional MEE subject areas which are also covered in the outline."

Your blog's been a great resource. Figured I'd post today's subjects, so future takers can plan accordingly. Your predictions were darn close.

JULY 2009

MPT 1: Objective memo to attorney
MPT 2: Persuasive response letter

MEE Subjects (only 2 MBEs)
Trusts
Family Law
Constitutional Law
Secured Transactions
Crim Pro
Wills
